Classic Marble Cake Loaf

Step 1: Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Set aside.

Step 3: Prepare the Wet Ingredients

  1. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until light and slightly fluffy.
  2. Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix until smooth.

Step 4: Make the Vanilla Batter

  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  2. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 5: Make the Chocolate Batter

  1. Transfer about one-third of the vanilla batter to a separate bowl.
  2. Stir in the cocoa powder, milk, and sugar until smooth.

Step 6: Layer the Batter

  1. Spoon a layer of vanilla batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  2. Add a layer of chocolate batter.
  3. Continue alternating the batters until both are used.

Step 7: Create the Marble Effect

  1. Insert a butter knife or skewer into the batter.
  2. Gently swirl through the layers with a few figure-eight motions.
  3. Avoid overmixing to keep the marble pattern distinct.

Step 8: Bake

  1. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

Step 9: Cool

  1. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Transfer it to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before slicing.

Optional Glaze

Tips
