Viral Zero-Carb Hibiscus-Berry Detox Iced Tea (High-Protein Version)

For the Tea Base

  • 8 cups water
  • 8 hibiscus tea bags (or ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Ice cubes

Protein Blend

  • 4 scoops clear whey isolate (berry flavor works best)
  • 2 scoops unflavored collagen peptides

Fruit Additions

  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, or blueberries)
  • Optional: cucumber slices for extra freshness

Optional Sweetener

  • Stevia or monk fruit sweetener to taste

Step 1: Brew the Hibiscus Tea

Bring 8 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.

Add the hibiscus tea bags or dried hibiscus flowers. Remove from heat and let steep for 15–20 minutes.

The tea should develop a deep ruby-red color.

Step 2: Cool the Tea

Remove the tea bags or strain the hibiscus flowers.

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.

Transfer it to the refrigerator for at least 1 hour until chilled.

Step 3: Add the Protein

Pour a small amount of cooled tea into a shaker bottle.

Add the clear whey isolate and collagen peptides.

Shake vigorously until completely dissolved.

Slowly pour the protein mixture back into the large container of tea.

Stir thoroughly.

Step 4: Add Flavor Boosters

Stir in:

  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Lemon slices
  • Mixed berries
  • Optional cucumber slices

Mix gently.

Step 5: Fill with Ice

Fill a large beverage dispenser or pitcher with plenty of ice.

Pour the tea mixture over the ice.

The drink should be extremely cold and refreshing.

Step 6: Chill Before Serving

Place in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours to allow the fruit flavors to infuse into the tea.

This step dramatically improves the taste.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

Pour into a tall glass.

Garnish with:

  • Extra berries
  • Lemon slices
  • Fresh mint leaves

Serve immediately.

Tips for Success

  1. Use clear whey isolate instead of traditional whey protein for a cleaner, juice-like texture.
  2. Always dissolve protein separately before mixing into the tea.
  3. Let the drink chill overnight for maximum flavor.
  4. Add sparkling water before serving for a fizzy version.
  5. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Is It Really a “Detox” Drink?

While hibiscus tea, lemon, and water can support hydration and overall wellness, no drink can magically “detox” the body. Your liver and kidneys already perform that function naturally. This beverage is best enjoyed as a refreshing, low-calorie, high-protein drink that may help you stay hydrated and satisfied throughout the day.
