The limousine returned the next morning.

This time there were three lawyers inside.

Charles watched from his office window.

Confused.

Minutes later his assistant rushed in.

“Sir… you need to see this.”

The lawyers entered carrying several folders.

The lead attorney placed a document on Charles’s desk.

His face turned pale.

The property where Blackwood Estate stood…

did not belong to him.

It belonged to Walter Hayes.

Charles laughed.

“This has to be a joke.”

“It isn’t,” the lawyer replied.

According to records, Walter’s grandfather had owned thousands of acres in the area.

Decades earlier, part of the land had been leased to Charles’s father under a complicated agreement.

Nobody had reviewed the original contracts in years.

But Walter had.

And now the lease had expired.

Charles stared at the papers.

“That’s impossible.”

The attorney calmly pushed another document toward him.

It was completely legal.

Walter had every right to reclaim the estate.

Then Charles noticed something else.

Walter wasn’t listed as a gardener.

He was listed as a millionaire landowner.

And Charles suddenly realized he had fired the wrong man.
