  • by

Step 1: Activate the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast.

Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Step 2: Make the Dough

Add:

  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Yogurt
  • Olive oil

Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Step 3: Knead

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.

Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 4: Let It Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl.

Cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap.

Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 5: Divide the Dough

Punch down the dough.

Divide it into 8 equal pieces.

Roll each piece into a ball.

Let them rest for 10 minutes.

Step 6: Roll Out

Using a rolling pin, roll each dough ball into a circle about 7–8 inches (18–20 cm) wide.

Step 7: Cook

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Place one flatbread in the dry pan.

Cook for 2–3 minutes until bubbles appear.

Flip and cook another 2 minutes until golden brown with light charred spots.

Repeat with the remaining dough.

Step 8: Finish

Brush each warm flatbread with melted butter for extra softness and flavor.

Stack them under a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm and tender.
