Natural radiance starts here: Vaseline and egg yolk

  • by

The viral claim that Vaseline mixed with egg yolk removes wrinkles and makes skin look years younger is not supported by scientific evidence. However, if you’d like to try it as a moisturizing face mask, here’s a safe version.

Vaseline & Egg Yolk Moisturizing Face Mask

Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Vaseline
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for extra moisture)

Instructions

Step 1: Soften the Vaseline

Place the Vaseline in a small bowl and warm it slightly until soft. Do not overheat.

Step 2: Prepare the Egg Yolk

Separate one egg yolk from the white and place it in another bowl.

Step 3: Mix

Add the softened Vaseline to the egg yolk. If using honey, add it now. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Clean Your Face

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry.

Step 5: Apply

Spread a thin layer over your face, avoiding the eyes and lips.

Step 6: Leave On

Let the mask sit for 10–15 minutes.

Step 7: Rinse

Wash off with lukewarm water, then gently pat your skin dry.

Step 8: Moisturize

Apply your regular moisturizer if desired.

How Often to Use

  • 1–2 times per week for dry skin.
  • Avoid frequent use if you have oily or acne-prone skin.

Expected Benefits

  • Helps reduce dryness by sealing in moisture.
  • Leaves skin feeling softer and smoother.
  • May temporarily make fine lines look less noticeable because hydrated skin appears plumper.

Important Notes

  • This mask will not permanently remove wrinkles, erase dark spots, or increase collagen production.
  • Because it contains raw egg yolk, prepare it fresh each time and discard leftovers. Raw eggs can contain bacteria such as Salmonella, so avoid using this mask on broken skin and rinse it off thoroughly.
  • If you have acne-prone skin, Vaseline may feel too heavy for your face.
  • Always do a patch test on a small area of skin 24 hours before applying any homemade skincare treatment to your face.

For lasting improvements in wrinkles and uneven skin tone, daily sunscreen, retinoids, vitamin C, niacinamide, and consistent moisturizing have much stronger scientific evidence than homemade Vaseline mixtures.
