Ingredients:
• 2½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• ¼ tsp salt
• 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
• 1½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
• 4 large eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup (240ml) milk
• 3 tbsp cocoa powder
• 2 tbsp hot milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F). Grease and line an 8-inch round or loaf cake pan.
2. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
6. Divide the batter into two portions. Leave one portion plain.
7. Mix the cocoa powder with the hot milk until smooth, then stir it into the second portion to make the chocolate batter.
8. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan.
9. Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl the batters together to create a marble effect.
10. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
11. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely
