Amish Apple Fritters

  • by

1. Prepare the batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla until well combined.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.

2. Add the apples

Fold the diced apples gently into the batter until evenly distributed.

3. Heat the oil

Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep, heavy-bottomed skillet or pot. Heat to approximately 350°F (175°C).

4. Fry the fritters

Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, working in small batches so the pan isn’t overcrowded.

Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side, or until the fritters are deep golden brown and cooked through.

Transfer them to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.

5. Make the glaze

Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until smooth. Add a little more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.

6. Glaze and serve

While the fritters are still slightly warm, drizzle the glaze generously over the top.

Let the glaze set for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy!

🍎 Crispy, sweet, warm, and loaded with apples—these homemade fritters are hard to resist!
