Eggshell Powder Method

The claim in the image is misleading. Eggshells do not contain collagen. Eggshells are composed mostly of calcium carbonate, while collagen is a protein found in skin, bones, cartilage, tendons, and connective tissues.

What Eggshells May Provide

  • Calcium for bone health
  • Small amounts of minerals such as magnesium and phosphorus
  • The thin membrane inside the shell contains small amounts of collagen and other proteins, but not enough to be considered a major collagen source

Can Eggshells Repair Knee Cartilage?

There is currently no strong scientific evidence that consuming ground eggshells can restore knee cartilage or reverse arthritis. Knee pain can result from many causes, including osteoarthritis, injuries, inflammation, or overuse.

Better Ways to Support Joint Health

🥚 Eat protein-rich foods (eggs, fish, chicken, beans)

🐟 Include omega-3-rich foods such as salmon and sardines

🍊 Consume vitamin C-rich foods (oranges, kiwi, strawberries, peppers), which help your body produce collagen

🍖 Consider collagen peptide supplements if recommended by your healthcare provider

🏃 Maintain a healthy weight and stay physically active

If You Still Want to Use Eggshell Powder

  1. Wash eggshells thoroughly.
  2. Boil them for 10 minutes to reduce contamination.
  3. Dry completely.
  4. Bake at a low temperature (about 120°C/250°F) for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Grind into a very fine powder.
  6. Use only small amounts (about ½ teaspoon provides a large amount of calcium).

Important: Eggshell powder can be a calcium source, but it is not a “lifesaver” for collagen loss in the knees and should not replace proper medical care for joint problems.
