Social media often claims that putting two drops of a homemade remedy or oil into your ear can restore hearing, stop tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or “clean” the ear overnight. There is no scientific evidence that any over-the-counter oil or homemade ear drops can restore hearing or cure tinnitus.
In fact, putting unknown liquids into your ear can sometimes make the problem worse, especially if you have an ear infection, a perforated eardrum, or ear tubes.
