Here is Part 2 as an original fictional continuation in the same dramatic style.

PART 2

I stared at the tiny memory card in Whitney’s trembling hand.

“What is this?”

She swallowed hard.

“I found it under the driver’s seat this morning while cleaning David’s SUV. I thought it belonged to Owen’s tablet… but after what he just told you… I think you need to see it.”

My hands were shaking so badly I could barely insert it into my laptop.

A folder appeared.

PRIVATE.

Inside were dozens of audio recordings.

The first one was dated three weeks earlier.

I pressed play.

David’s voice filled the room.

“Once Adrianna starts taking the capsules, it’ll look like heart failure. Nobody questions a woman who’s always exhausted.”

Maggie’s laugh followed.

“And after she’s gone?”

“The company transfers to me automatically until Owen turns eighteen.”

“And the boy?”

A long silence.

Then David answered coldly.

“I’ll send him to a residential facility overseas. He’s mute. Nobody will believe anything he says.”

My blood froze.

Whitney covered her mouth.

Owen hid behind my chair.

There were more recordings.

Far more.

In another one, Maggie sounded irritated.

“What if she refuses the vitamins?”

David chuckled.

“She trusts me. She always has.”

Another recording made my stomach turn.

“The capsules can’t be traced back to us. My friend paid cash. Even the prescription is fake.”

I slammed the laptop shut.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Finally I looked at Whitney.

“Call Mr. Harris.”

“My lawyer?”

She nodded.

“No.”

“The security chief.”

Twenty minutes later, our family attorney, Richard Harris, arrived together with two private investigators.

He listened to every recording without interrupting.

When the last file ended, he quietly asked,

“Have you taken any of the capsules?”

“No.”

“Good.”

He carefully placed the bottle inside an evidence bag.

“I’m sending these to an independent forensic laboratory immediately.”

That afternoon another discovery changed everything.

One investigator searched David’s home office.

Inside a locked drawer they found copies of documents bearing my forged signature.

Property transfers.

Company resolutions.

Bank authorizations.

Someone had been preparing for my death long before the trip.

Richard looked at me gravely.

“This wasn’t impulsive.”

“This was planned.”

Late that evening my phone rang.

David.

I answered calmly.

“How are my girls?” he asked cheerfully.

“We’re fine.”

“You started the vitamins?”

I forced myself to smile even though he couldn’t see me.

“First capsule tonight.”

“Perfect.”

His voice sounded almost… relieved.

“I’ll be home in two days.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

“So will I,” I replied before ending the call.

Richard looked at me.

“He believes you.”

“Good.”

The forensic laboratory worked through the night.

At 9:30 the next morning, Richard called.

“You need to sit down.”

“What did they find?”

“They’re not vitamins.”

My heart pounded.

“What are they?”

“They contain dangerously high concentrations of digitalis combined with several sedatives.”

“What would happen if someone took them?”

Richard’s face became pale.

“Repeated doses could cause fatal heart rhythm disturbances.”

“They were designed to look like a natural cardiac event.”

I couldn’t breathe.

Owen had saved my life.

Richard immediately contacted detectives.

Within hours, the police opened an attempted homicide investigation.

But Richard stopped them before any arrests were made.

“Not yet.”

I looked at him in confusion.

“They’re still traveling.”

“If they think Adrianna is taking the capsules, they’ll eventually reveal more.”

The lead detective nodded.

“Sometimes guilty people talk too much when they think they’ve already won.”

That evening David called again.

“You sound tired.”

“I guess the vitamins are working.”

He laughed softly.

“I told you my doctor friend was brilliant.”

Every word was being recorded.

Every second brought the investigators closer to proving exactly what he had intended.

And none of us realized…

The biggest secret was still waiting to be uncovered.

To be continued…
