Can a Natural Drink Reverse Cataracts, Glaucoma, or Blurred Vision? Here’s the Truth

Social media is filled with claims that a homemade drink made from carrots, bananas, lemons, or other fruits can “reverse cataracts,” “cure glaucoma,” or “restore perfect vision in days.” While these ingredients are nutritious, there is no scientific evidence that any drink can cure these eye conditions or replace proper medical treatment.

Here’s what the evidence actually says.

Why Good Nutrition Matters for Eye Health

A healthy diet plays an important role in maintaining your eyes throughout life.

Certain nutrients help support normal vision, including:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Lutein
  • Zeaxanthin
  • Zinc
  • Omega-3 fatty acids

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is one way to obtain these nutrients.

Carrots: Good for Eye Health, Not a Cure

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A.

Vitamin A helps:

  • Maintain healthy vision
  • Support the surface of the eye
  • Reduce the risk of vision problems caused by vitamin A deficiency

However, eating extra carrots will not reverse cataracts, glaucoma, or age-related vision loss if you already get enough vitamin A.

Bananas Support Overall Health

Bananas provide:

  • Potassium
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin C
  • Fiber

These nutrients support general health, but bananas have not been shown to cure eye diseases.

Lemons Add Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

A diet rich in vitamin C may support long-term eye health, but drinking lemon juice cannot remove cataracts or lower eye pressure caused by glaucoma.
