Social media is full of posts claiming that a simple tea made from bay leaves and cloves can “remove all cancer cells from your body” or “prevent blindness.” While these claims may sound encouraging, there is no scientific evidence that this drink can cure cancer or prevent vision loss.
That doesn’t mean the tea is without value. Bay leaves and cloves contain natural plant compounds that may have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making them a pleasant herbal beverage when enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.
Ingredients
- 3–4 dried bay leaves
- 8–10 whole cloves
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- Honey (optional)
- Lemon slice (optional)
